This delightful technique can be used when all your earthly communication skills have not produced a win/win resolution.
The basic concept is that we have within us a ‘divine self'. Call it whatever name you wish, suited to your beliefs. The person, with whom you are having a conflict, has the same spiritual capacity as you. On this earthly level there is no resolution just a difference of opinion, values beliefs etc.
To solve this conflict, you must go to a higher level of thinking or operating. This is where the Cosmic Café metaphor comes into play. The end result must come from a change in consciousness. It may mean changing the way you view the situation, your attitude or the way you handle yourself. After all who is in charge of how you feel, you, or the other person?
I am not suggesting that you have to give in and not stand by your own values, and beliefs. I am suggesting you ‘let go of control' and allow a higher understanding to take place within your own consciousness. Here's the story….
In a place far away, yet closer than we could ever know, stands a café. Not an ordinary café, by any means, yet with all the trappings we instantly recognise; the elegant tables outside in the fresh air, the congenial waiters and waitresses, happily singing out orders to the attentive team behind the counter. This alone should alert you to its specialness! But there is infinitely more.
Everyone seems to know each other, on an intimate level rarely found in our café society. As someone new joins the heavenly throng, more chairs are drawn to already crowded tables. Conversations ring out like church chimes; laughter and passionate exchanges flow like a young river in spring.
As you observe this unusual group of people, a few faces hold your attention. They look so much like people you know; yet there is something very different about the soft glow that surrounds them. You look to another table…and there you are!
Wow! You probably never knew you could look that good! Yet unmistakeably, it's you all right. You could take forever to ask the million questions rapidly running through your mind…but you're actually here for business. Serious business you feel...at least at the moment.
You take the offered seat and look intently at the smiling face gazing gently back at you. You spill your heart out to this ethereal version of yourself and in a second and all those frustrating events are understood even before you have finished. None the less, perhaps just for your own clarity, you explain in detail all the events and issues involved, leaving nothing out. Having spoken your piece, you inwardly understand it's time for you to leave and you do so.
If you were able to watch that happens next, you would be speechless.
A new guest arrives, again, someone you would recognise so well. Recognition would turn to surprise, when the heavenly counterpart of your earthly antagonist, happily takes the chair just vacated by you.
They obviously know each other and appear great friends. With smiling eyes and mischievous tones they relate both parts of the earthly story. They know at this level, each earthly contender has a gift of learning or love for the other but just can't seem to ‘get it'. Their earthly ‘life movies' have been sewn seamlessly and intractably together, each for the purpose of healing, learning and demonstrating something grander than the behaviour thus far shown. Time will often reveal wisdom, but at present, at least one contender wishes to speed up the process.
The glow surrounding the table softens and deepens. At this level, there is no separation just love. There is no difference of opinion, just concern. There is no battle for power and control, only compassion. There is no injustice, only infinite wisdom. There is no struggle for influence, just pure peace. Contained within their twinkling smiles, is the path for a deeper peace, of contentment and reassurance of the divine plan for each earthly counterpart.
Their combined wish is always for the highest possible outcome for each person and the knowledge that this always exists in every moment of time and space ..even within the hearts of the two on Earth.
Thus they go about their healing, quietly whispering into the hearts of each, the ideas they each need to ‘get' and understand. The glow becomes even brighter and expands as they impart their gifts, travelling forever through what we would call, space and time. Once completed, they resume their animated conversations and order more divine cappuccinos from the waiter who, of course, appears with perfect timing.
Their work is done…now it is time for yours.
